The Plan
- The room above the sanctuary will be used as temporary worship hall untill the renovation is completed.
- Start using the building after fire sprinklers have been installed and continue to work on sanctuary on first floor.
- We try to make the church building nicer than our own houses without spending a lot of money.
- Please let Tim know if you have skill with drywall repair and finish. There are quite a few places that need work.
- Come out and help whenever you can. Most of the work is done after 4pm on weekdays and from 8am - 6pm Saturday.
Remodeling Notes
The roof appears to be in good condition, and could possibly be raised if needed.
The first floor ceiling could possibly be moved up 1.5 feet, giving more room for projector and screen.
Sprinkler system installation will be managed in a way that minimizes impact to current tenants.
Please try to keep the dust and debris away from the rest of the building.
Outlet covers and wood trims that were removed are saved for reuse. Try to reuse everything that we take apart.
Replace ceiling tiles marked with 'X' on second floor with good ceiling tiles from first floor. We might paint ceiling tiles in recreation room.
Use drywall for sanctuary ceiling.
Tell sprinkler installers to install pipes above trusses since we are going to raise the ceiling. Sprinkler installers will have to come back to readjust the height of the sprinkler head after we raise the ceiling.
We are probably going to replace hallway carpets after completing work on the sanctuary.
Hire professionals to steam clean the office and kitchen carpets before moving in.
What's Next
- Some walls need to be repainted since spots were missed.
- Install hardwood floor in room between kitchen and recreation room. We have 7 boxes leftover from recreation room floor. Install wood trim around this room. The trim will go around the small box by the wall and the current vinyl trim will be removed.
- Build platform for backwall sound control and front stage, just for recreation room.
- Hire installers to replace kitchen and second floor restroom sinks with granite. Kitchen countertops have been installed. Bathroom countertop should be installed soon.
- Use tile for back splash on kitchen wall and second floor bathrooms.
- Use tile on second floor bathroom floors.
- Resurface east wall of play room and paint.
- Fix up wall in play room. Install cable outlet in the place where the cable wire is sticking out of the wall.
- Run CAT5e lines from phone closet to pastor's office and printer room.
- Fix men's restroom door frame. Fix men's restroom ceiling.
- Wash windows.
- Paint lobby walls on second floor.
- Please ask Tim for the latest status.
Latest Building Status
- Pray for accurate estimates from contractors bidding on the sprinkler system so that there are no unexpected additional costs towards the middle of the project. Joel Ellis is getting a breakdown of the work for the installation of the sprinklers to ensure that there are no surprises once work has started.
- Important: Please pray for approval from City of Reno. We need City of Reno approval of renovation plans in order to get the permit to start work on sprinklers and the first floor. Ron has submitted electrical lighting drawings electronically but the City requested that the plans be submitted by hand.
- We have permit to remodel the building. We still need permit to excavate the pavement and another permit for sprinkler installation.
